“Magnificent Maharajahs” – National Museum of Bahrain.

As part of the Bahrain national day celebration and the opening of the “Little India” in Bahrain , the Bahrain authority for culture and antiquities commissioned Umang Hutheesing to curate and create an exhibition featuring royal Indian costumes in a two part exhibition- showcasing material heritage as well as living heritage.

“The Magnificent Maharajahs”- Splendour of Indian Royal Costumes features 80 historic pieces from the private collection of Deepak & Daksha Hutheesing, alongside 140 revival pieces created by Umang Hutheesing.

This exhibition was opened by Her Royal Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women president, at Bahrain National Museum and was on view for almost 5 months. In great appreciation for Umang Hutheesing’s work as a designer and the revivalist, the Queen honored him with five gold sovereigns each minted with a great king of Bahrain
